WW2 History Club – May Movie Night

When:              When:  Wednesday, May 15th, 6PM to 8:45PM

Where:            Where:  Seabreeze Rec Center

Movie:   The Man Who Never Was is a dramatization of Operation Mincemeat, the Allied operation designed to convince the Germans that Sicily (Operation Husky) was not the next Allied objective after North Africa.

Starring Clifton Webb and Gloria Graham, the film is based on the book of the same name written by Lt Commander Ewen Montagu.  The carefully orchestrated operation positions the body of Major William Martin, a Royal Marine, manacled to a briefcase with operational secrets off the coast of Spain and lets the Spanish and Germans come to logical conclusions.  The actual identity of the body has been the subject of much debate over the years and only recently has been definitively identified (or so the author of  Deathly Deception would like us to believe)
