Topic How We Plan Trips

Planning a trip for the WW2 History Club is not as easy as you might think.  Aside from the mechanics of trip planning, there is the problem of people not communicating their interest and the ever-changing calendars of most people.

The typical process is something like this:

bullet

Define the trip.  This could be an expression of interest by someone in the club but more often it is an idea from Mark or Don about a "good trip"

bullet

Gather Interest:  With approx info on dates, itinerary and cost, we seek to understand who might be interested.

bullet

Given sufficient interest, we will move forward to the 2nd phase of planning where we will put together a reasonably solid itinerary, transportation methods and costs.  Date will still be vague because we will seek some date that works for most interested parties.

bullet

Alternatively, we may turn the task over to a travel agent and let them do the heavy lifting

bullet

The better definition of the trip will be provided to the interested parties as we seek a best date or dates

bullet

When we have a sense for "best dates", we will start the process of collecting deposits, making reservations, etc.
